Pastor Roger Grafton
Roger Grafton became a member of Tabernacle in December of 2000, and was called by the Church to be Associate Pastor from September of 2001.
He became a Christian in 1985 through the ministry and teaching of his uncle. He was very quickly called to the pastorate through the witness of the local Church in London, and through the prophetic ministry of a team from the Vineyard Church, California. He was selected for training as an Anglican priest in 1987, and after training in Bristol and California was ordained in 1991. He served as a curate in London until 1994 after which Roger became Vicar of a church in the Midlands. He left full time ministry in 1996, spending the next 4 years working with the homeless in first in London and later in South Wales.
Roger's passion is to see the unchanging Word of God preached in a rapidly changing world. He is keen to experiment in both preaching styles and worship, trying to find the most appropriate ways of sharing God's wonderful Good News in contemporary culture. He is also keen to see the whole Church equipped as ministers. Taking Ephesians 4:12 as his key text in ministry, Roger believes his job is to make himself redundant as a pastor as he "equips the saints for works of service".
Roger is married to Claire, and they have four children: Thomas, Matthew, Isabel and Patrick. If you can't find Roger at Church or at home he is probably either playing golf or sailing a dinghy in Cardiff Bay!
